(December 10, 2003. East Falmouth, MA). Hydroid announced today the recent hiring of Bob Melvin for the position of Senior Electrical Engineer. Melvin has both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in electrical engineering, completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Maine, and his graduate work at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Bob also brings with him seventeen years of technical experience.
Commenting on the hiring of Mr. Melvin, Hydroid’s president Ken Jordan stated that, “Bob brings a wealth of technical experience that will enable us to meet our corporate growth objectives and better serve our growing customer base. Hydroid has embarked on an effort to build a world class engineering team to continue the REMUS tradition started by the engineers at WHOI. Bob will assist us in taking the REMUS technology to the next level.”
Melvin will provide Hydroid with valuable software, hardware, and digital signal processing experience. He holds three U.S. patents applying digital signal processing to discriminate analog signals. He was previously employed by, among others, Taqua Inc., Benthos Inc., BAE Systems, and the National Security Agency.
Hydroid presently supports a growing customer base, as REMUS technology continues to expand into the domestic and international markets. There are presently over fifty-five REMUS systems in operation around the globe.
Hydroid Inc. holds the exclusive license from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution for the manufacture and further development of the REMUS Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) technology.
