(July 14, 2004 – Pocasset, MA) Hydroid Inc. announced today that they have recently received an order from the Singapore Navy for two REMUS Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) systems.
Hydroid received the contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Panama City, Florida, who will transfer the systems directly to the Singapore Navy. The contract marks Hydroid’s first sale through the “Foreign Military Sale” program. The systems will be used in the waters surrounding Singapore to conduct hydrographic measurement operations.
Commenting on the recent contract, Hydroid’s Kevin McCarthy stated, “we are very excited by this contract and look forward to delivering the systems, and to supporting the Singapore Navy in their upcoming operations. These will be the first REMUS systems delivered to the Far East and their delivery is a major milestone in Hydroid’s growth, and REMUS’ growing acceptance by the international market.”
Hydroid plans to deliver the systems later this summer, and will conduct extensive operational and maintenance training in Singapore in the fall. Hydroid maintains a presence in Singapore through their exclusive representative, Sea & Land Technologies, Pty. Ltd.
