(October 14, 2003 – E. Falmouth,
MA) Hydroid Inc. announced today that they have
received a contract from Fugro for two REMUS vehicles.
The vehicles will be configured to meet Fugro’s
specific survey requirements. This contract marks the
first sale of REMUS systems into the commercial survey
market.
Kevin McCarthy, Hydroid’s vice
president of marketing adds “Hydroid is excited
to be working with Fugro to transition REMUS technology
into the commercial survey market. With (55) fifty-five
REMUS systems in operation, REMUS has developed a field
proven track record that is unmatched in the industry.
Hydroid looks forward to supporting Fugro’s efforts
in utilizing REMUS to perform their commercial survey
requirements.”
Hydroid anticipates delivering the
two REMUS vehicles in January 2004. Following training,
and a brief period to familiarize their staff with the
REMUS operation, Fugro plans to put the systems to work
in their survey operations.
Hydroid Inc. holds the exclusive license
from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution for the
manufacture and further development of the REMUS Autonomous
Underwater Vehicle (AUV) technology.
