(July 14, 2004 – Pocasset,
MA) Hydroid Inc. announced today that they have
recently received an order from the Singapore Navy for
two REMUS Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) systems.
Hydroid received the contract from
the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Panama City, Florida,
who will transfer the systems directly to the Singapore
Navy. The contract marks Hydroid’s first sale
through the “Foreign Military Sale” program.
The systems will be used in the waters surrounding Singapore
to conduct hydrographic measurement operations.
Commenting on the recent contract,
Hydroid’s Kevin McCarthy stated, “we are
very excited by this contract and look forward to delivering
the systems, and to supporting the Singapore Navy in
their upcoming operations. These will be the first REMUS
systems delivered to the Far East and their delivery
is a major milestone in Hydroid’s growth, and
REMUS’ growing acceptance by the international
market.”
Hydroid plans to deliver the systems
later this summer, and will conduct extensive operational
and maintenance training in Singapore in the fall. Hydroid
maintains a presence in Singapore through their exclusive
representative, Sea & Land Technologies, Pty. Ltd.
Hydroid Inc. holds the exclusive license
from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution for the
manufacture and further development of the REMUS Autonomous
Underwater Vehicle (AUV) technology.
